Iowa man hit by semitractor-trailer on Interstate 35 in Story County dies

A Slater man died after he left his vehicle and was struck by a semitractor-trailer on Interstate 35 South Saturday morning in Story County.

William Kirkman, 48, got out of his vehicle near the 101 mile marker and walked onto the road when he was hit by the truck at 2:19 a.m., according to the Iowa State Highway Patrol report.

The other driver was not injured. The accident remains under investigation.
