Iowa man injured in vehicle vs. truck crash near Rochester

Nov. 2—ORONOCO TOWNSHIP, Minn. — One person was injured in a crash north of Rochester on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 2, 2023.

A dump truck was waiting to turn left from the eastbound lane of U.S. Highway 63 when a 2018 Ford Transit Van also traveling east collided with the truck, according to a Minnesota State Patrol crash report.

The Ford driver, 30-year-old Matthew Louis Meyer of Cedar Falls, Iowa, had non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys. It is unknown if alcohol was involved in the crash, according to the report.

The truck driver, 69-year-old Robert Joseph Batzel of Rochester, was uninjured in the crash.

The Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service, Olmsted County Sheriff's Office and Rochester Fire Department also responded to the scene.
