Iowa primary elections: Mary Madison wins House District 31 Democratic primary in West Des Moines

Mary Madison won Tuesday's Democratic primary election in House District 31, which includes West Des Moines.

Madison received 63% of the vote, defeating opponent Michael Andreski, according to unofficial election results.

In the general election, Madison will face Republican Justin Pearson, a real-estate agent and owner of a home-maintenance business.

Madison is a minister and a pastoral care specialist at the Iowa nonprofit Children and Families First. She told the Register she supports creating incentives to draw workers to the childcare and education fields, working to reduce pollution in Iowa and creating tax deductions for disabled Iowans remodeling their homes to fit their needs.

Election results are unofficial until certified by the Dallas County Board of Supervisors.
