USA TODAY Sports' Scott Gleeson breaks down the latest Ferris Mowers Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll.
SCOTT GLEESON: The top of the Ferris' Coaches Poll is looking a lot of the same. That's because you've got Gonzaga at number one, Baylor at number two, and then at the number three spot, Villanova, and number four Michigan rolling it out. And ultimately, we're seeing a lot more changes to the lower pack of the top 10 and then at the lower pack of the top 25.
The ACC isn't as good as it has been in years past. But the one thing that hasn't changed is coach Tony Bennett's Virginia team is out front. The reason for that is, once again, a stifling defense and transfer Sam Houser has been excellent to give this team a boost on offense. The Cavs are moving up in the poll as a result.
When examining some Big Ten teams in the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll, one thing we have to look at is Iowa. This is a team that has been excellent all year but is starting to slip with two consecutive losses and some big time losses when you think about one to Ohio State then also to Indiana. Iowa's got to get its stuff together.
Then we're thinking about another Big Ten team, Ohio State is surging. This is a team that could land a number two seed in the NCAA tournament and continues to win and just ride it out with seven of the last eight games. They're coming out. And they're winning big time games.
