Iowa Spring celebrates recent expansion with ribbon cutting, open house

Community members got a chance to check out Iowa Spring Manufacturing’s new facility on April 20 in Adel.

The open house included tours of the new facility, along with a ribbon cutting hosted by Adel Partners Chamber of Commerce.

“On behalf of Adel Partners Chamber, we would like to congratulate you for your expansion out here,” Jason Urban said. “We really thank you for your support of the community and look forward to seeing greater things in the future.”

Iowa Spring broke ground on the new facility in November 2021. The facility, located at 301 Visions Pkwy, is located just down the road from the main facility at 2112 Greene St.

The move to the new facility happened in stages as President and CEO Tim Bianco said they couldn’t shut down production. The company moved a machine a week over to the facility over a three-month period. Work will continue on the new building in the next few months, as more equipment will be moved in along with furniture for the office space and signage for the building.

The new facility is 55,000 square feet, with 5,000 square feet of that dedicated for office space and a lunch room/break room. Bianco said the second facility will allow the company to expand its production capacity.

He added that Iowa Spring is unique in the spring-making world as many of the company’s competitors make just one product, like garage door or ag equipment springs.

“We make springs for all industries. Separating allowed us to give attention to each of those industries and add capacity and growth opportunities,” Bianco said of the two facilities in Adel. The company also has a sister facility in North Carolina.

Bianco said Iowa Spring was committed to reinvesting in the community as the company came to Adel in 1979 and has made Adel its home ever since.

“To continue to grow in this community is really important to me. We wouldn’t be here today without the community members and the support we’ve had over the years,” Bianco said after the ribbon was cut. “I want to thank all of you for showing up, first of all, and then being a part of our continued growth. This is just the next step in what we continue to do here in Adel. We plan on succeeding and thriving over the next 30, 40, 50 years.”
