Iowa State adds a Missouri linebacker from the transfer portal

Iowa State went to the transfer portal again Tuesday, this time coming away with a former three-star linebacker.
Zachary Lovett has transferred from Missouri to the Cyclones, where the redshirt sophomore will have three seasons of immediate eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder from Rockledge (Florida) High School, was a Tigers backup last season and primarily played on special teams. He blocked a punt against Arkansas.
Iowa State lost two senior starting linebackers from last season - seniors Colby Reeder and O'Rien Vance.
Lovett initially chose Missouri in 2021 over offers from a list of schools that included Iowa State, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Miami of Florida, Mississippi State, Purdue and West Virginia. The Rivals recruiting web site ranked him as the nation’s No. 35 linebacker during his senior season.
He’s the second known transfer to join Iowa State's 2023 roster. The other is former Stanford running back Arlen Harris Jr.
A former four-star, the 5-11 Harris was rated the No. 8 player in Missouri, and No. 30 running back nationally out of high school. At Stanford last season, he gained a yard on two rushes.
Harris committed to the Cardinals over high school offers from the Cyclones, Iowa, Arkansas, Ball State, Boston College, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Penn State, Purdue, Vanderbilt and West Virginia.
