Iowa State men's basketball lands transfer from Wofford

Iowa State men's basketball continues to round out its roster via the transfer portal.

Jackson Paveletzke, a 6-foot-3 guard from Wofford, has committed to the Cyclones, he announced Monday via social media.

The Kimberly, Wisc. native averaged 15.1 points and 3.7 assists per game as he started all 30 contests for the Terriers as a freshman. Most notably for Iowa State, he shot 39.3% from 3-point range.

The Cyclones were keen on adding scoring to the roster this offseason after a second-straight year in which their defense far outpaced their offense. Iowa State sported the Big 12's best defense during league play, but were seventh offensively in efficiency, according to KenPom.com.

Still, it was a formula that produced results for the Cyclones, who made the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight year under coach T.J. Otzelberger. It was there, though, that Iowa State's offensive inadequacies were starkest as the Cyclones managed just 41 points in a first-round loss to Pitt.

Paveletzke joins UNLV transfer Keshon Gilbert, who committed Sunday, as recent additions for Otzelberger and Co. Gilbert shot 35% from 3-point range last season.

The Cyclones are replacing five major contributors from last year's team, but will welcome in a blockbuster recruiting class led by McDonald's All-American Omaha Biliew and top-40 forward Milan Momcilovic as they look to build on the momentum created by the back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.
