Iowa woman dies in northern Missouri crash

Oct. 2—One woman died and another man was seriously injured in a head-on collision Monday just north of Mercer, Missouri.

Bryant Elder, 34, of Princeton, Missouri, was driving a 2005 Ford F-150 south on U.S. Route 65 around 7:30 a.m. Monday when he crossed the center line and struck a 2018 Volvo tractor on its passenger side, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol crash reports.

The F-150 then traveled into the path of a 2015 Chevrolet Impala driven by DeAnn Dorsey, 51, of Osceola, Iowa, striking her vehicle head-on, according to crash reports.

Elder's vehicle traveled off the roadway, overturned and ended up on its passenger side. Dorsey's vehicle came to rest partially in the roadway, and the tractor came to a controlled stop on the shoulder.

Dorsey was pronounced dead at the scene, according to crash reports, and Elder was taken to Harrison County Community Hospital and was then flown to Research Medical Center Kansas City for serious injuries.

Dorsey was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to crash reports. It is unknown if Elder was wearing a seatbelt.
