Apple’s iPhone 5c is now available for preorder from Apple and each of the four major U.S. wireless carriers, but Apple won’t be taking preorders for its flagship iPhone 5s. Rumored yield issues suggest short supply is the reason for the move, but beefing up launch-day lines isn’t a terrible side effect. While Apple announced earlier this week that the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c would become available online and in stores on September 20th, the company on Friday announced more specific details on its website. Apple’s iPhone 5s will be available to purchase online starting at 12:01 a.m. PDT, 3:01 a.m. EDT on September 20th, and Apple Stores will open at 8:00 a.m. local time to begin selling the new flagship phone. Lines will probably be ridiculous, especially in big cities, so those who hope to get their hands on a new iPhone 5s next week should probably line up early.
