iPhone 6 Launch Could Be Pushed to Oct. 14
September is usually synonymous with crazed shoppers rushing to snag the newest iPhone, but those shoppers might have to wait. The latest release-date rumor for the much-anticipated handset points to Oct. 14, nearly a month after the potential Sept. 19 release date that's been circulating over the past few weeks.
This new date was reported by MacRumors, which cited sources that caught wind of a recent internal meeting for Apple's retail shops. According to MacRumors' inside source, Oct. 14 will be an "immense" day for the iPhone maker, and a media event announcing the new phone could happen on Sept. 16.

Historically, new iPhones hit on September Fridays, so the iPhone 6's purported Tuesday, Oct. 14 release date would be a pretty notable switch from the norm. It could also make October 2014 one of Apple's most crowded release months ever, as products like OS X Yosemite, new iPad models and the long-rumored iWatch are expected to launch in that same window.
Still, this isn't the first time we've heard reports of the iPhone 6 and iWatch launching simultaneously, as the company's first wearable could serve as a companion device for Apple's latest smartphone. We're not sure if the phone's rumored October launch window includes both the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models, but most reports suggest that the phablet-flavored iPhone will hit stores later than its mainstream-sized counterpart.
Whenever it does release, Apple's iPhone 6 is expected to arrive with iOS 8, a powerful A8 processor and a near-unbreakable sapphire display. If the date for Apple's rumored press event proves true, we should have some official info in a little over a month.
