The Iranian government does not recognize the annexation of Ukrainian territories by Russia and advocates for respect for the territorial integrity of all countries, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said at a press conference in Tehran on July 18, as reported by Moscow Times.

"We believe in the territorial integrity of every country, including Ukraine, which should be the top priority for all countries, based on international law," he said, adding that Tehran insists on the need to end the war "through political dialogue."

Tehran also considers Moscow's recent interference in Iran's territorial integrity issues unacceptable, the minister emphasized, referring to a diplomatic scandal that erupted at the Arab Cooperation Council of the Persian Gulf. Russian diplomats called for negotiations on the status of three islands near the Strait of Hormuz that Iran considers its own, contested by the United Arab Emirates.

In response, the Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador Alexey Dedov, expressing protest. The Iranian side received an "explanation" from the Russian side, but Tehran does not consider it sufficient, Abdollahian said at the press conference.
