Iranian President Hassan Rouhani isn't holding back his thoughts about the forced resignation of John Bolton as White House national security adviser.
(SOUNDBITE) (Farsi) IRANIAN PRESIDENT HASSAN ROUHANI, SAYING:
"Americans should know that warmongering and warmongers are not in their favor. They should put aside both warmongers and warmongering and maximum pressure."
Is it a potential thaw between the countries? Bolton was one of the strongest hardliners against Iran in the administration.
And immediately after Bolton's abrupt departure, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Trump could meet with Rouhani at an upcoming United Nations meeting.
Tehran isn't signaling that it's ready to talk yet though. It's still refusing to meet with Washington unless sanctions are lifted.
