New Iranian Factory Working Round the Clock to Address Shortage of Masks and Disinfectant

A new factory in Bandar Abbas, Iran, is producing thousands of face masks, medical scrubs, and bottles of disinfectant every day in response to the growing COVID-19 outbreak in the country, local media reported.

The factory, the first sanitary and disinfectant production unit in the area, was built at a cost of almost US$500,000 (2 billion Iranian tomans) and currently has staff to work across three shifts every day, according to the Iranian Students News Agency.

Workers on the production line said they are doing the work to “help maintain the health of fellow city residents.”

The production unit manager said they are committed to resolving the shortage of medical supplies in the area within 10 days.

Speaking to Tasnim News, the governor of the Hormozgan region, Fereydoon Hemmati, said that the products will be supplied to nurses and medical staff in the area and that the factory has created employment for 50 people.
