Iranian Navy Accused of Harassment by US Coast Guard in Persian Gulf

An Iranian military vessel unsafely cut across the bow of a US Coast Guard patrol boat during a routine maritime patrol in the Persian Gulf on April 2, US Naval Forces have reported.

The US Coast Guard patrol boat USCGC Monomoy (WPB 1326) was forced to conduct a defensive maneuver when Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN) Harth 55 “conducted an unsafe and unprofessional action” by crossing the patrol ship’s bow, according to NAVCENT.

Four Iranian ships harassed the Monomoy as well as the Coast Guard cutter Wrangell for approximately three hours, according to a statement from Fifth Fleet Spokeswoman Cdr Rebecca Rebarich, reported by CNN. Credit: DVIDS via Storyful
