Iranian operative charged in plot to murder John Bolton

An Iranian operative has been charged in a plot to murder former national security adviser John Bolton in presumed retaliation for a U.S. airstrike that killed the country’s most powerful general, accused of offering $300,000 to “eliminate” the Trump administration official, the Justice Department said Wednesday.

Shahram Poursafi, identified by U.S. officials as a member of Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, is currently wanted by the FBI on charges related to the murder-for-hire plot.

JANA WINTER: How do you feel just generally about the government negotiating with a regime that's literally trying to kill you?

JOHN BOLTON: This plot, this effort to kill me, which-- and I'm certainly not alone in this. They're after plenty of people, and including average citizens, not just former government employees. It shows the real nature of the regime. It's a look inside their soul. And it's a confirmation they can make a lot of commitments about their nuclear weapons program, they have no intention whatever of honoring them.
