Iraq's Christians get ready for Christmas

Situated north-east of the Nineveh Governorate of Iraq, Hamdaniya holds a large Christian community.

"One of our most important preparations is the Christmas tree, which the kids always enjoy," said Rania Adel, who was busy decorating her house as she spoke of her plans for the festive season.

Christmas celebrations feel particularly important to Hamdaniya's Christians this year, following a historic visit from Pope Francis in March.
