Iris the border collie is ‘perfect mix of active and relaxed.’ Help her find a forever home

At 8 years old, sweet Iris is ready to find her forever family.

This petite border collie mix weighs around 35 pounds, making her the perfect medium-size dog.

Since the San Luis Obispo County Animal shelter is filled to the brim, Iris has been able to decompress and relax in a loving foster home.

While many border collies are very high energy, Iris loves her down time and has been thriving in foster care.

Her foster parents have nothing but great things to say about her.

Iris is good with other dogs, very calm, well behaved and housetrained.

The perfect mix of active and relaxed, she knows commands for sit, stay and shake.

After a long walk or good play session, Iris loves to curl up in her bed or by your side to nap.

The border collie lived in a recreational vehicle with her foster family and proved that she doesn’t need a lot of space to be happy.

She rarely ever barks and is great in social settings such as at restaurants or downtown area. She’ll happily lay by your feet and quietly enjoy the company of those around her.

With animal shelters at maximum capacity in SLO County and around the nation, Iris is one of many incredible dogs in need of a home. Adopters are needed now more than ever.
