Irish Hills Chamber: 'Women Empower Hour' discussion to feature 5 women business leaders

Join the Irish Hills Regional Chamber of Commerce for our “Women Empower Hour,” taking place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 8, at the Devils Lake Yacht Club. We will have a panel discussion with five female business leaders in the community. The cost is only $18 per member and $30 for non-chamber members and includes networking, heavy appetizers, a bouquet bar from Black Dog Flower Co. and discussion. This event is sponsored by Kelsey’s Boutique and Gifts and Decker and Sons Insurance Agency.

There is a Brooklyn fireworks fundraiser taking place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at the American Legion Wilbur-Bartlett Post No. 315, 211 Chicago St. in Brooklyn. Presenting a night in Vegas features Bruce Hammond, a famous “Sinatra” entertainer and Brooklyn native. Tickets are available at The Exponent or by calling 517-917-2872.

Cambridge Junction Historic State Park/Walker Tavern is holding an evening concert from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 8. Bring your lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the Jackson Ukes. Go to Michigan.gov/cambridgejunction to find their summer events.

YMCA Storer Camps is holding a Sports Madness Day camp from June 12 through June 16. They are offering a nature and adventure-based day camp especially designed for active or novice campers. Day camp welcomes campers who are 5 to 10 years of age to enjoy traveling around camp by visiting the nature center, waterfront, sports and all that the outdoors has to offer. The main program runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with drop-off as early as 7:30 a.m. and pick up as late as 5:30 p.m. YMCA Storer Camps does not offer daily rates for day camp programming. Heart O’ the Lakes Church is holding a Woman’s Scavenger Hunt from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 3, beginning at the church and traveling throughout Brooklyn. Registration is required by calling 517-592-8623.

WellWise Services Area Agency on Aging is holding an online PATH Workshop from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursdays from June 1 through July 6. PATH stands for Personal Action Toward Health. Topics include healthy eating, being active, managing difficult emotions, managing pain and fatigue, getting better sleep and preventing falls. To register, call 313-397-8227.

The Irish Hills Eagles have the following specials coming up: On Friday, June 2, they will have smoked pork chop dinners from 5 to 7 p.m.; the public is welcome. Euchre signup is at 6:30 p.m. daily, and games start at 7 p.m. for $5. The public is welcome to participate in the euchre games. On Sunday, June 4, the Eagles will be offering an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon. Breakfast costs are $8 for adults and $3 for children. The public is welcome to attend. The Irish Hills Eagles are at 9500 Wamplers Lake Road in Brooklyn.

The Irish Hills Regional Chamber of Commerce is holding the Irish Hills Lake & Home Tour from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 24. Wristbands are $20 per person which gives you access to tour seven of our beautiful Irish Hills lakes. This event is presented by Cherry Creek Cellars.
