The Taoiseach of Ireland, Leo Varadkar, has arrived in Ukraine on an official visit and has visited the site of Russian war crimes in the town of Bucha, Kyiv Oblast, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s press service reported on Telegram on July 19.

While accompanying the Irish prime minister, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin told him that more than 1,400 civilians had been killed and even more had been tortured in the Bucha district in the first months of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The systematic nature of these crimes indicates that the aggressor is persecuting Ukrainians due to their national identity, the prosecutor general said.

“Ukraine has two main goals: to stop Russian aggression and to put an end to Russia’s impunity for international crimes,” Kostin stressed.

“The Kremlin regime poses a threat to the whole world. Therefore, it must act together and coordinate to bring the regime’s leaders and their accomplices to justice for all the evil they have committed.”
