“...the illegal invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation is an Act of Genocide,” Daly wrote on Twitter.

“The Senate of Ireland passed a resolution on Genocide by Russia in Ukraine.”

According to the resolution, "the Russian armed forces and paramilitaries carried out genocide during the invasion" of Ukraine.

In addition, the Irish parliament noted that during the invasion, Russian troops committed murder, rape, and the large-scale use of heavy military weapons against civilians, as well as shelling of civilians, firing on civilians, and sniper fire against civilians leaving burning houses.

The resolution also acknowledges that Russia's attack on Ukraine was an "unprovoked act" and contrary to international law.

Earlier, Ukraine’s parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, recognized Russia's actions in Ukraine as genocide of the Ukrainian people and called on the world community to do the same.
