QUINCY − Internationally acclaimed Irish tenor Ronan Tynan will perform a free outdoor concert on the Hancock Adams Common on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 4 to 6 p.m.

The event, presented by Quincy 400, marks Tynan's return to Quincy after opening last summer's Multicultural Folk Festival.

Concertgoers will keep their fingers crossed for good weather. The forecast calls for a chance of showers lasting until the afternoon.

According to his website, Tynan rose to prominence as a member of the Irish Tenors, which also included Anthony Kearns and John McDermott, before starting a solo career.

His fame grew after his 2004 performance at former President Ronald Reagan's funeral, which was viewed by large international television audiences.

Tynan is also known for his rendition of "God Bless America," which he frequently performed during the seventh-inning stretch at Yankee Stadium. He has also performed at Fenway Park.

Tynan's self-titled debut album was released in 2005 and rose to second on Billboard's Classical Crossover Chart, behind only Josh Groban.

Born in Dublin, Tynan has faced challenges. At the age of 20, an automobile accident led to the amputation of both legs below the knee. Tynan went on to win 18 gold medals in the Paralympic Games and set 14 world records.

He later became a medical doctor with a specialty in orthopedic sports injury.
