Iron Man 3 and 24 actor James Badge Dale's new crime drama is back underway despite the launch of the SAG-AFTRA actors' strike in addition to the continued writers' strike.

King Ivory, which comes from writer-director John Swab, is one of 39 productions that have been allowed to resume work as they benefit from the SAG interim agreement.

This agreement applied to projects of "truly independent producers" who have zero affiliation with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

The project also stars Ben Foster (Hell or High Water, X-Men), Michael Mando (Better Call Saul), Rory Cochrane (Black Mass), Ritchie Coster (The Dark Knight), George Carroll (The Town), Sam Quartin (Candy Land), and Oscar winner Melissa Leo (The Fighter).

The story follows an inside look at the fentanyl trafficking gangs inside the Oklahoma State Penitentiary. Producer Jeremy M. Rosen is producing for Roxwell Films.

In a statement to Deadline, Rosen thanked SAG-AFTRA for the agreement while championing the important story.

"John and I feel strongly that King Ivory is our best and most timely script and cast to date. Fentanyl has proven to be perhaps the most fatal pandemic in modern history, claiming countless lives, including our late friend and Body Brokers lead actor, Michael Kenneth Williams," Rosen said.

"King Ivory is a proudly independent production. We are grateful to SAG-AFTRA for making the Interim Agreement available to us amidst this climate of important change."

However, the majority of other major projects are still on hold. Deadpool 3, Gladiator 2 and Venom 3, and Andor season 2 are just some of the projects that have halted filming or production while various actors have joined the strike including Mission: Impossible stars Simon Pegg and Hayley Atwell.
