Irondequoit man charged in attempted carjacking at Delta Sonic car wash

An Irondequoit man has been charged in an attempted carjacking at the Delta Sonic car wash at 2970 West Henrietta Road, Henrietta, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the business at 2:25 p.m. Saturday for the report of a man with a gun.

They say a customer was pumping gas, and his wife was in the passenger’s seat of their car, when Keith S. Dobbles, 33, allegedly got into the vehicle and drove away from the pump.

The customer ran after his car and drew his legal handgun, deputies say. The vehicle came to a stop as the suspect struggled with the man’s wife, allowing the man to open the driver’s-side door. However, the suspect put the car in reverse, pinning and dragging the man before pulling forward again and crashing into another car.

A witness helped detain the suspect while he was held at gunpoint by the victim, who was later treated for minor injuries at a hospital.

Dobbles is charged with first- and second-degree robbery and second-degree assault, all felonies.

He was arraigned in Henrietta Town Court and remanded to the Monroe County Jail on $20,000 cash bail, $40,000 bond, or $100,000 partially secured bond.

Additional charges may be brought, according to the sheriff’s office.
