IRS employees can help taxpayers who have a question about a tax bill or who need help resolving a tax problem. In some cases, taxpayers may receive a referral for some services.

"We’re opening Saturday to help folks that can’t schedule an appointment during regular hours," IRS spokesperson Luis Garcia said in a statement.

"While you can handle just about everything through our website, IRS.gov, some taxpayers prefer the one-on-one, in-person experience at a TAC."

Foreign language interpreters will be available. The IRS staff will schedule appointments for a later date for those who are deaf or hard of hearing who may need sign language interpreter services.

Issues that can be addressed include:

  • Child tax credit information and help.

  • Online account assistance.

  • Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) renewal.

  • IRS Identity theft help.

  • Payments for taxes can be made by check or money order only. No cash will be accepted.

  • Issues relating to tax refunds.

  • Tax law questions.

  • Transcripts and forms.

Taxpayers must bring documents, such as a current government-issued photo identification, and Social Security cards and Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers, if applicable, for a spouse and dependents.

Also be sure to bring any IRS letters or notices received and any documents that were requested in those letters. And have your bank account information for direct deposit of refunds or payments.
