Artists Council

Ambassadors for the Artists Council's Artists Center at the Galen in Palm Desert assist in greeting the public and introducing visitors to the changing art exhibitions. Ambassadors also help with special events such as the recent community day and exhibition opening receptions. Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Desert

Big Brothers Big Sisters creates and supports one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. We are seeking volunteers to mentor children age 6-18 in the Coachella Valley. Volunteer requirements include being able to spend four to eight hours a month mentoring a child, having good transportation, completing a background check and enrollment process and following our guidelines and program procedures for a successful development of a mentoring relationship. Once matched, a Big and Little is assigned a program staff member to provide ongoing training and support throughout their match relationship. Council on Aging - Southern California

Change a senior's life. The Council on Aging is looking for qualified candidates to become long-term care ombudsmen. Our ombudsmen are advocates for the rights of residents of nursing homes, board and care homes and assisted living facilities. Volunteer driver needed. Must have a valid California license with no moving violations or suspensions on your license in the last three years. Must be able to assist clients in and out of the vehicle, including pushing wheelchairs, providing support while transferring client from wheelchair or walker to the vehicle and lifting up to 25 pounds unassisted. Guide Dogs of the Desert

Volunteer puppy raisers needed. Seeking individuals over 18 and/or families to foster our puppies. As a puppy raiser, your job is to help the dog learn about the world and about interacting with humans in a variety of situations. The puppy will remain in your home until they are 18 to 24 months old. Guide Dogs of the Desert will be with you throughout the journey with in-person group training sessions, puppy raiser outings and constant support. Indio California Highway Patrol

The CHP is looking for senior volunteers aged 55-plus to help with various tasks at the office in Indio. CHP Senior Volunteer Program (SVP) duties fall into four general categories: administration, public affairs, volunteer use of CHP vehicles and ride-alongs with uniformed officers. Voices for Children transforms the lives of abused, abandoned or neglected children by providing them with trained volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs).
