Isolated severe weather possible in downpours Friday

Meteorologist Ava Marie shows how the remnants of Nicole will track through the Western Maryland mountains Friday night and race northeast toward New England Saturday. Showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds are the story. It doesn't look too bad, but we can't rule out an isolated severe thunderstorm as the spiraling bands of tropical showers move through. We will have to keep an eye out for a quick spin-up tornado, especially Friday evening. Most areas will have peak gusts of 25 to 35 mph with isolated gusts to 40 mph. Rainfall of a half inch to 1 1/2 inches in most areas around Baltimore, but isolated 2-inch amounts if heavier thunderstorms develop. We should be able to avoid flood problems since it has been quite dry since mid-October.
