ISP identifies man killed in Tell City; investigation underway

Indiana State Police detectives are investigating the weekend shooting death of a Huntingburg, Indiana, man in the Tell City area.

That investigation began around 1:41 a.m. Saturday when officers responded to a call reporting a "dispute with a possible weapon" at a residence along Indiana 145, according to a state police news release.

Once on scene, troopers and local law enforcement officers found a man, later identified by police as 32-year-old Andrew Long Jr., dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

"No arrest or charges have been filed at this time, and the Indiana State Police is still investigating the events that transpired," the agency stated in a news release. "There is no current threat to public safety."

The Tell City Police Department and the Perry County Sheriff's Office assisted the ISP with its initial response. As of Sunday afternoon, the ISP said it had "no further information available or release."
