President Biden announced Friday the release of two American hostages — identified as Judith Raanan and her daughter, Natalie, of Evanston, Ill. — who kidnapped by Hamas while visiting family in Israel during the Oct. 7 attacks.

“I am overjoyed that they will soon be reunited with their family, who has been wracked with fear,” Biden said in a statement. “These individuals and their family will have the full support of the United States government as they recover and heal.”

Earlier Friday, U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres flew to Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula on Friday to push for humanitarian aid to reach Gaza, which is bracing for a possible ground invasion. U.S. officials said that details of getting the supplies through the Rafah crossing were still being worked out.
