Israel Strikes Gaza Following Rocket Fire

Explosions erupted in Gaza after the Israeli military said its fighter jets struck targets early Thursday, February 23, in retaliation for rockets launched from the strip.

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the targets of the strikes were “a weapons manufacturing site and military compound belonging to the Hamas Terrorist Organization, located in central and northern Gaza.”

Palestinian outlet WAFA reported damage to buildings, but no injuries, following the strikes.

The IDF said, “6 rockets were fired from Gaza toward Israeli territory. 5 rockets were intercepted by the IDF Aerial Defense Array, 1 rocket fell in an open area.”

The Palestinian Health Ministry said at least 10 people were killed and more than 100 wounded after Israeli forces said they were involved in an “exchange of fire” in Nablus on Wednesday, February 22. Credit: WAFA News Agency via Storyful
