Russian troops continued to advance in the Avdiivka sector over the past day, reads the latest daily report from the U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) released on Nov. 25.

Geolocated footage published on Nov. 24 shows Russian troops advancing north of Krasnohorivka (7 kilometers north-west of Avdiivka).

Russian military correspondents circulated videos of the alleged retreat of Ukrainian forces from positions in Avdiivka's industrial zone in the south of the town, while other “milbloggers” said that Russian troops had not yet fully captured the industrial zone.

Russian sources also claimed that the occupation forces had advanced in the area of Stepove (4 kilometers northwest of Avdiivka) and Novokalynove (11 kilometers northwest of Avdiivka), but ISW noted that there was no evidence to support this.

At the same time, the Ukrainian General Staff reported that Ukrainian forces repelled Russian attacks east and south of Novokalynove and near Novobakhmutivka (13 kilometers north-east of Avdiivka), Stepove, Avdiivka, Sieverne (6 kilometers west of Avdiivka) and Pervomayske (11 kilometers south-west of Avdiivka).

Colonel Oleksandr Shtupun, spokesman for the Tavria Group of Ukrainian Armed Forces, said that Russian troops have reduced the intensity of air strikes and decreased the number of armored vehicles operating in the Avdiivka sector, but they are still conducting infantry attacks.
