MIDDLETOWN - Nicholas Creamery unveils its new ice cream shop on Route 35 on Friday, its fifth location in Monmouth County.

It's part of a food-focused group of new stores in front of ShopRite. Another shop, Booskerdoo Coffee & Baking Co., opened earlier this month. Nicholas Creamery will be open seven days a week starting at noon each day.

"We are so excited about it," said Jodie Edwards, who along with Nicholas and Melissa Harary owns Nicholas Creamery. "Middletown is such an incredible community."

Founded in 2018, Nicholas Creamery is known for its small-batch ice creams, seasonal flavors and collaborations with local businesses. The ice cream is made completely from scratch with ingredients including cream, sugar and eggs.

There is Taliercio's Italian Cookie Platter, which has sweet cream almond ice cream with pieces of the deli's raspberry butter cookies and Italian rainbow cookies with raspberry jam swirled throughout.

In conjunction with Meemom's, the breakfast and brunch spot, Nicholas Creamery has created Aw Berry French Toast ice cream, which is fresh brioche ice cream with blueberry and strawberry jam and pieces of Meemon's brioche French toast.

The store is part of building that was once a Sears Auto Center. The auto center, along with a closed Sears store on the other side of the parking lot, was purchased from Seritage Growth Properties by Richard Saker, president and chief executive officer of Saker ShopRites.

Saker renovated and remodeled the Sears store, which had closed in 2018, and opened a new 91,624-square-foot ShopRite supermarket, along with a ShopRite Wine and Spirits store next door.
