New Italian restaurant to open in Lodgic building in Champaign

Nov. 27—CHAMPAIGN — An Italian restaurant will be moving into part of the Lodgic building in south Champaign early next year.

The restaurant space at 1807 S. Neil St. has been leased by family-owned restaurant operators, who will open a Napoli's Italian Restaurant there, according to Nolan Atkins, director of operations for Champaign-based Break Shot Property Management Group.

The Lodgic property was bought in September by Lodgic Community LLC, a corporation managed by Atkins and his father, Todd, who is also president of Break Shot.

Nolan Atkins said work is still underway to get the co-working space in Lodgic open, but he expects it will be available for users starting next month.

"It's our goal to have everything set up early December," he said.

The new owners have been reaching out to former users of the co-working space, "but we're not doing a big push right now," Nolan Atkins said.

The owners of Napoli's also operate restaurants in Mattoon and Decatur, he said. They hope to open the Champaign location in February or March, depending on how long it takes to get a health permit.

"They want to be open as soon as possible," he said.

The building was formerly operated as Lodgic Everyday Community, and its restaurant space was formerly operated as Lodgic Everyday Kitchen. The former restaurant has been closed for nearly a year, and the co-working space closed in March.

Todd and Nolan Atkins plan to operate the co-working space themselves, with tenants leasing the day care and restaurant spaces in the building.
