Italy has won the 2020 UEFA European Championship, defeating England in penalty kicks 3-2. The win gives Italy its first European Championship since 1968 and sixth international title, the previous title coming at the 2006 World Cup.

Domenico Berardi, Leonardo Bonucci and Federico Bernardeschi made Italy's three successful penalty kicks while goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma made two crucial saves. The Three Lions missed three straight kicks to end the decisive shootout.

England, essentially playing a home game at Wembley Stadium, went up early with a goal from Luke Shaw in the second minute of play. Leonardo Bonucci leveled the score at 1 for Italy with a goal in the 67th minute. Neither team scored again in regulation or extra time, bringing the finals to penalty kicks.

The tournament had been delayed a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
