Itasca County woman dies in crash with garbage truck
Mar. 25—A 32-year-old woman from Itasca County died after a crash with a garbage truck Wednesday night.
The Minnesota State Patrol identified the woman as Erica Lynn Wright, of Coleraine. The crash took place about 15 miles from Grand Rapids in Calumet. Around 11 p.m. Wednesday, Wright was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander on U.S. Highway 169 when the minivan drifted into the other lane and collided with an oncoming garbage truck.
Road conditions were snowy and icy at the time of the crash, according to the state patrol's incident report. The garbage truck driver, Brett Allen Roth, 58, of Nashwauk, was not injured in the crash.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. The airbags in Wright's vehicle were deployed during the crash.
