ITC is expanding its fiber optic service in parts of rural Codington County.

The expansion will offer residents and businesses reliable, fast internet connections along with an option for local phone service, according to a news release from the company.

"Broadband is vital for economic development in rural areas, providing an always-on connection to the rest of the world. Along with ITC’s investment in the fiber-optic expansion, this project was also awarded a Connect SD grant from" the state, according to the release.

The Connect SD program aims to provide sustainable, high-speed internet service to every home and business in South Dakota.

Construction is set to begin in spring. To verify eligibility and sign up for service, residents can visit www.itc-web.com or call ITC at 888-201-2929, option 3. Applications should be competed by March 31.

“With ITC’s current customers upgraded to fiber-optics, it was the right time to look at expansion opportunities," ITC CEO Tracy Bandemer said in the release.
