IU football standout freshman LB Dasan McCullough enters transfer portal

IU football's standout freshman linebacker Dasan McCullough will enter the transfer portal, he announced via social media Sunday night.

The son of Deland McCullough, IU's former running backs coach now at Notre Dame, Dasan McCullough will undoubtedly be highly sought after. He appeared in all 12 games this season as a true freshman, recording 49 total tackles, 6.5 for loss and tied for the team lead with four sacks. The Bloomington South graduate landed on multiple freshman All-American lists.

"First off I would like to say thank you to coach (Tom) Allen, coach (Kasey) Teegardin and the entire coaching staff at Indiana University for giving me a chance to play in front of my hometown," McCullough wrote in his social media post.

"I would also like to thank each of my teammates for pushing me to be my best every day and believing in me. After careful conversations with my family and God, I would like to announce that I am entering the transfer portal."

IU is coming off back-to-back losing seasons, and Allen has already warned of the potential for some of the team's top players to be poached in the new NIL era.

Earlier Sunday, starting tight end AJ Barner and cornerback Chris Keys, a potential 2023 starter, announced they were also entering the transfer portal.
