Ivanka Trump rebels against her dad and tweets 'Happy Holidays' instead of 'Merry Christmas'

The war on Christmas just got real awkward at the Trump residence.

President Donald Trump has taken a hard stance against the term "Happy Holidays" in favor of the less-inclusive "Merry Christmas" in recent years. His war on Christmas has even sparked an opinion piece from his favorite news outlet, Fox News, titled "Thank you, Mr. Trump for bringing 'Merry Christmas' back to the White House."

Well, apparently, Ivanka Trump is reverting to her punk phase, because she defied her father on Monday night and tweeted, "Happy Holidays!" while standing in front of a Christmas tree. The nerve.

People were quick to lay into Ivanka for her stance on "Happy Holidays."

In the ramp up to the holiday, Trump has repeatedly shared his thoughts on the issue.

"We're saying 'Merry Christmas' again," Trump said at the the Values Voter Summit in October, after claiming there was an attack on Judeo-Christian values.

While conservatives may try to blame the left and Barack Obama for the fake War on Christmas, Trump predecessor often said the phrase "Merry Christmas" in addition to "Happy Holidays."

Ivanka is of course married to Jared Kushner, who is Jewish. You'd think her father would be a little bit more open, or maybe he's just trying to appeal to the only thing he has left: his base.
