SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Popular downtown San Diego bakery, IZOLA, has been closed since October, and the owners announced Tuesday they finally found a new location to move into.

Named Yelp’s top bakery in the United States in 2022 and runner up in 2023, the downtown San Diego gem will be reopening soon once the new bakery is ready and staff is hired, the bakery’s owners said, and that they anticipate to reopen by mid-May.

Known for its Instagram worthy warm croissants and sourdough, IZOLA in the East Village has been a staple as one of San Diego’s most popular bakeries. The bakery has been in the same East Village location for the past 24 years, until now.

In early March, IZOLA’s owners asked the public to help them find a new location after their 100-year-old building on 13th street in downtown San Diego was no longer an option to stay at.

Just a month later they were able to announce their new location is coming soon to Island Avenue, just two blocks from their former location.
