When Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan hit the road in April for a Guns N’ Roses reunion more than 20 years in the making, they’ll do so without guitarist and co-founder Izzy Stradlin. “At this point in time, I will not be playing at any of the April 2016 GNR shows,” he told Rolling Stone. “I’ve also not been in the studio recording or writing with any of the others recently.”
Stradlin had began tweeting last week and confirmed the account’s authenticity to Rolling Stone as well. “There’s so much misinformation, so I wanted to clarify that I’m not in the studio recording with any of the Guns N’ Roses guys,” he said. “At this point in time, I’m not involved in the actual shows … A lot of stuff [fans] are reading isn’t true.”
Stradlin departed Guns N’ Roses in 1991. But while absent from the band’s 2016 iteration, Stradlin occasionally had performed with the group from 2006 to 2014 as a guest.
The Guns N’ Roses reunion has been a marquee topic in the rock community since rumors began to swirl about its possibility last year. The group will play two Las Vegas gigs in early April before headlining Coachella later that month.
