J. Cole Just Met ‘Boy Meets World’ Star Danielle Fishel Years After He Named Dropped Her In A Song — And She Was Starstruck

Danielle Fishel, aka Topanga from Boy Meets World, couldn’t believe her luck when she ran into J. Cole at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Vegas over the weekend. The actor was a guest at the festival on Friday when she ran into J. Cole backstage.

A video clip posted to social media shows the 42-year-old actress gasping as she spotted the Grammy-winning rapper walking toward her.

“I have to say hi to you. I went and saw your show in L.A. Unbelievable!” she said. “I’m such a big fan.”

Cole also expressed his admiration for Fishel as the two embraced each other.

“Me too, likewise. Good to see you,” he said before the pair walked in opposite directions.

As Vibe reported, Cole name-dropped Fishel in 2013 when he released his song, “Villematic,” off his Born Sinner album.

“Boy Meets World, I’m tryna find a new Topanga/ And bang her out, no hanging out,” he raps.

Cole performed “All My Life” with Lil Durk at the iHeartRadio Music Festival, marking the first time the pair performed the track together. The track reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart.

In an interview with People, Fishel discussed why her new podcast, Pod Meets World, might ruin Boys Meets World.

“We don’t want our criticisms or our critiques or our experiences to in any way change what your opinion of the show is,” she said. “They’re just our honest opinions, and we can’t do it if we’re not going to be honest.”

Boy Meets World ran from 1993-2000. Disney+ rebooted the show as Girl Meets World, which ran from 2014- 2017.

As Blavity previously reported, in 2020, fellow Boy Meets World star Trina McGree, who is Black and portrayed Shawn Hunter’s on-again, off-again girlfriend Angela Moore, alleged that she was often mistreated.

“Called aunt Jemima on set during hair and make up,” McGee tweeted. “Called a bitter b***h when I quietly waited for my scene to finish rehearsing that was being f’ed up over and over due to episode featuring my character. Told ‘it was nice of you to join us’ like a stranger after 60 episodes.”

Although McGee alleged that the mistreatment came from multiple people and did not name anyone specific, Fishel apologized in a tweet that read, “I’m using this time to read, to listen, to ask questions about how to be a better ally, how to be anti-racist, & making the commitment to myself and others that this will not fade from my mind or my agenda when the rebellion is no longer the headline of all news and social media.”

McGee has since appeared on Pod Meets World with Fishel, Ben Savage and Rider Strong and she and Fishel also linked up recently for a TikTok after they appeared at a convention together.
