If you care about sneakers enough to follow news about sneakers, then you probably already knew that the Nike Killshot 2’s can be tough to get your hands on.

As our friends at Esquire recently put it, the Killshot 2’s “have a nasty habit of selling out fast.”

Me? I’ve never been what anyone would mistake for a sneakerhead. (Do people even say ‘sneakerhead’ anymore?) The less mental bandwidth I devote to picking out what shoe I’m going to wear on a given day, the better. That's part of what drew me to the Killshot 2's in the first place.

As luck would have it, I spotted the Killshot 2’s the same place I spot most of my clothes—on JCrew.com. I’d been looking off and on for something versatile, but stylish to wear pretty much all summer. In the Killshot 2’s, it was immediately clear I’d found my answer, and they just happened to be in stock.

Simply put, the Killshot's go with almost everything. Pairing leather and suede with navy blue—on the pair that I own, at least—is about as classic a color combination as you can get. But the subtleties in the design—everything from the softer curve of the iconic swoosh to the vaguely retro block lettering spelling out NIKE on the heel—make them seem timeless. Without those details, they would risk looking boring, or even dorky. Instead, they're elevated enough to pair with everything for a night out, from jeans and a button-down, to a blazer and a T-shirt.

Better yet, Nike and J.Crew just keep improving upon them: The additional colorways—green and red so far—are perfect if you find the original too staid. Just cross your fingers they're still in stock.
