If you are going on trial soon in Ohio's Hamilton County, we know at least one person who won't be on your jury, Senator-elect J.D. Vance.

Vance tweeted a picture of himself in front of the Hamilton County Courthouse Monday morning saying he was dismissed from jury duty. He had a valid excuse: he's starting a new job.

"At the Hamilton County Courthouse, where I was just dismissed from jury duty," tweeted Vance, who lives in Cincinnati's East Walnut Hills neighborhood. "Reason given: orientation for a new job starting tomorrow."

If you go on trial later in 2023, Vance could still have a hand in deciding your fate. Vance postponed his jury duty, said Bradley Seitz, chief deputy jury commissioner with Hamilton County. You can postpone your jury duty for up to six months for scheduling conflicts, he said.

Vance beat Democrat Tim Ryan this past Tuesday with 53% of the votes. He will be sworn in Jan. 3, but the U.S. Senate offers orientation in November for new incoming members.
