Jason McElwain, who as a teenager became an overnight celebrity as student manager-turned-shooting star in a 2006 high school basketball game, was badly hurt while riding his bicycle Monday afternoon in Greece. Widely known as J-Mac, McElwain, 32, was in guarded condition at Strong Memorial Hospital Tuesday morning, according to a hospital spokeswoman. The cyclist, whom police did not identify, was taken to Strong with injuries not considered life-threatening. Josh McElwain later said his brother is in Strong’s ICU and that he suffered nine broken ribs, a broken scapula and a punctured lung — but no head injury.
