An ugly first quarter for the Atlanta Falcons against the Cincinnati Bengals got worse with the news that cornerback A.J. Terrell, a second-team All-Pro last season, left Sunday's Week 7 game at Paycor Stadium with a hamstring injury and was declared out for the rest of the game.
"Not good news for this Falcons defense," Fox sideline reporter Jen Hale said. "Difficult for him - he had such a star-studded season last year. … Of course for this Falcons defense overall - they came in 31st (in the NFL) in passing. So this certainly won't help the situation."
The Bengals led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter, thanks in part to Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow's 60-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Boyd two minutes into the game.
Burrow completed 13 of his 15 attempts for 196 yards with a touchdown during the first quarter Sunday. With 481 passing yards Sunday, Burrow easily surpassed 9,000 career passing yards in his 33rd NFL regular-season game.
Burrow added a second touchdown pass on the Bengals' first play of the second quarter - to receiver Ja'Marr Chase - to give Cincinnati a 21-0 lead.
