Well-wishes have rolled in for Jack Hanna and his family after they recently shared a look into the long-time zoo director's battle with Alzheimer's disease.

A spokeswoman for the Hanna family said they've received more than 600 messages of support after opening up about Jack's private battle with the disease. A Dispatch story published last month showed the life of Jack and his family in Bigfork, Montana — one vastly different from the one he led as the face of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium for years.

The zoo has also received about two dozen physical notes and continues to receive more, zoo spokeswoman Jen Fields said in an email.

Notes can be dropped off at the green mailbox within the guest relations office at the zoo's front entrance. Supporters can also email info@jackhanna.com to share messages of support directly with the Hanna family.

Meanwhile, supporters have posted more than 1,000 comments on Jack Hanna's Facebook page, sharing support, favorite memories of the famous zookeeper and their own personal experiences with Alzheimer's.
