Jack Ma left off China business leaders list

Jack Ma faces a new snub in China.

The Alibaba founder has been left off a state media list of entrepreneurial leaders.

China's best-known businessman wasn't even mentioned in a front-page article published by the Shanghai Securities News.

The piece lauded people who it said abided by market rules.

Mentioned were names like Huawei's Ren Zhengfei and Xiaomi chief Lei Jun.

Ma's woes date back to a speech in October when he blasted the country's regulatory system.

Officials subsequently blocked a $37 billion IPO for his Ant Group.

They also launched an anti-trust probe into the tech sector, with Alibaba taking much of the heat.

Ma then disappeared from the public eye for about three months, triggering frenzied speculation over his whereabouts.

He eventually re-emerged last month with a 50-second video appearance.

But it looks as if there's some way to go before he makes up with Beijing.
