Jackson Browne Live

Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Jackson Browne plays at the Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of Illinois Springfield at 8 p.m. Friday.

Browne has had a slew of hits, like "Running on Empty," "The Load-Out/Stay," "Doctor My Eyes," "Somebody's Baby," "In the Shape of a Heart" and "The Pretender."

The 74-year-old Browne has long been an activist promoting human rights and environmental justice. Browne's 2021 studio recording “Downhill From Everywhere" was a Grammy nominee for “Best Americana Album.”

Pizzapalooza

The first ever Pizzapalooza will be hosted by Pizza Records at the Gilham House parking lot, 326 W. State St. in Jacksonville, at 4 p.m. Saturday.

The musical lineup features Sean Taylor at 4 p.m., followed by Scratching the Surface at 5:30 and Robinia Groove at 7. There also will be food vendors.

Pizza Records, which specializes in vinyl records, has been in business since October and is owned by Devin and Heather Smock. For more information, visit Pizza Records' Facebook page.

Living the Legacy Gala

Celebrate a good cause with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. at its Living the Legacy Gala on Saturday.

The event begins at 5 p.m. at the BOS center, 1 Convention Center Plz.

The organization will announce the launch of its newest program that will provide eye exams and glasses to students in underserved areas, "Lenses For Literacy", at the event. There will also be food, music, and a silent auction.

Donnie B's Comedy

Steve "The Bad Boy of Comedy" Hirst will take the stage of Donnie B's on Saturday.

The show begins at 8 p.m. at Boondocks, 2909 N. Dirksen Parkway.

Full cocktail service and food will be available. Tickets start at $20.

Rock the Block Party

Mix, mingle and more at the Rock the Block party on Sunday.

The event will take place from 3-7 p.m. at Luminary Kitchen and Provisions, 3121 Hedley Rd.

Over 20 local vendors specializing in clothing, art, candles and body products will be present. There will also be photo ops, crafts, and treats.

Sailing, sailing

The 2023 Sunfish North American Championship is being hosted Thursday through Sunday at Island Bay Yacht Club on Lake Springfield.

Seventy-six boats from around North America are participating.
