Jackson Browne to make Springfield stop June 9; general public ticket sales start Friday

Singer-songwriter Jackson Browne is coming to Springfield this spring, with a stop at the University of Illinois Springfield's Performing Arts Center at 8 p.m. June 9.

Tickets go on sale Thursday for FRIENDS of the UIS Performing Arts Center at 10 a.m. for starring role and above members, and at 5 p.m. for basic community and super fan members. For the general public, tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. They can be purchased online at uispac.com, by calling the UIS Ticket Office at 217-206-6160, or by visiting the ticket office from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, Browne's career has spanned over 50 years with four top-10 albums and seven platinum albums, such as 1980's Hold Out and 1977's Running on Empty, his most successful commercial works.

His most recent work, 2021's Downhill from Everywhere, received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Americana Album.

Brown is also known for his environmental advocacy, which dates back to the late 1970s when he protested against nuclear power plants and contributed to the formation of Musicians United for Safe Energy (MUSE), which advocates for clean energy production.

He's also worked to reduce and eliminate the use of plastic bottles and has received awards for his work to clean up shorelines and oceans.
