Jackson County adds 14 COVID-19 cases Tuesday

Jun. 22—Oregon added 267 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, including 14 in Jackson County, pushing the statewide count to 207,105 cases and bringing the Jackson County case count to 11,549.

The new cases included 31 in Washington County, 25 each in Marion and Multnomah counties, 22 in Clackamas, 18 each in Lane and Umatilla, 12 each in Douglas, Josephine and Polk, 10 each in Curry and Linn, nine in Deschutes, six in Malheur, four in Benton and Yamhill, three in Sherman, two in Clatsop, Columbia, Klamath and Union, and one each in Coos, Gilliam, Grant, Hood River, Jefferson, Lake and Wasco counties.

One death was reported Tuesday in Washington County, increasing the statewide death toll since the start of the pandemic to 2,757.

Jackson County has averaged 13 new cases per day over the past seven days, according to the Oregon Health Authority and Jackson County Public Health. Since the start of the pandemic, 798 Jackson County residents have been hospitalized and 146 have died.

On Tuesday, 12 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in region No. 5, composed of Jackson and Josephine counties.

As of Tuesday, 68.8% of Oregonians 16 or older had received at least one dose of the vaccine, according to state data.

In Jackson County, 52.1% of its 184,579 residents 16 or older had been vaccinated — an increase of 1% over the past seven days.

Jackson County needs a 65% vaccination rate in order to be eligible for the state's lower risk category. In order to reach that threshold, another 23,740 Jackson County residents need their first dose of the vaccine.
