Jackson native to lead Dickson TCAT

Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) released a statement and announced Dr. Patrick Davis, Sr., as the new Vice President of Operations for its Dickson location. This was made official on March 1, 2022.

Davis will oversee campus operations for facilities, maintenance, and information technology at the college’s four campuses. These campus’ include the Dickson Main, Dickson Advanced Manufacturing, Clarksville and the Franklin satellite. He will also administer the technical academic programs at the Dickson Main and Advanced Manufacturing locations.

“It is my mission to be an educator who changes someone else’s life, said Davis. "Here you will be a part of an institution that will allow you the opportunity to change your skill set. This is done by learning new skills which will make you employable and able to make a better living."

Davis is a Jackson native who was educated through the Jackson Madison County School System (JMCSS) and graduated from Jackson Central-Merry High School. He furthered his education at Jackson State Community College (JSCC). He received his Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from the University of Tennessee at Martin (UTM). Thirsting for more knowledge, he received his Master of Business Administration in Technology Management from the University of Phoenix and his Doctor in Education in Leadership and Policy Analysis from East Tennessee State University (ETSU).

Davis brings nearly two decades of experience and expertise working professionally and in higher education. Davis served as the Dean of Academic Support at Jackson State Community College in Jackson, Tenn. for the past six years. In his earlier career, he gained diverse experience at Dyersburg State Community College. In the private sector, Davis has held positions of leadership in information technology and training roles within global logistics and business-to-business services companies.

“He has so many experiences that will enable him to fit right in and provide guidance in a wide range of areas,” said TCAT Dickson President Dr. Arrita Summers. “Davis has a compelling desire to develop the whole student by connecting enrollment to employment and has already proven the ability to provide input that will further our mission, and I am personally thankful he has joined our TCAT family.”

TCAT Dickson offers 24 programs ranging from vocational to online health sciences. These programs are designed to be completed in between 12-20 months.

"I look forward to building new relationships with the community," said Davis. "I want to continue to create partnerships that will lead to apprenticeships."
